No more "extra" lines! A news update from FlyChina.com
Beginning September 1, 2004, China's airports will stop collect airport construction fee at airports. Instead, the fee will added to air tickets as airport taxes. The airport taxes are 90 Yuan RMB (US$10.87) for each international departure, and 50 Yuan RMB (US$6.04) for each China domestic departure, respectively. Connecting flights are subject to the airport taxes as well. The change makes it easier for the travellers. In USA and many other countries, those taxes are being collected with air tickets. Since there are many taxes for each ticket, it is not unusual that a US-China ticket has a total tax amount of over $120. Tax amounts vary with destinations, routes and carriers.

All I can say is, "Duh!" Why it took them so long to come to this solution, I'll never understand. ;o) It will make things *much* easier!
