Where are the blog posts?

Sorry that this blog has been inactive for the last little while. My wife and I are starting up a home-based distributorship for Pharmanex products. We've been very busy with that lately.

I'll continue to post as much as I can, but I'll probably cut my posting frequency down to 2-3 times a week. I definetly want to pass two milestones that are coming up soon: (1) The three-year anniversary of China Adoption News, and (b) my 1500th blog entry!

A note about Pharmanex and their products -- I started taking Pharmanex LifePak supplements about two months ago for the long-term health benefits they provide. (If you're not aware of the importance of antioxidants in your diet, read the book The Antioxidant Miracle by Lester Packer, from Cal-Berkeley. He's been studying them for 5 decades and states that "70% of Americans will die prematurely from disease caused by or compounded by a dificiency of antioxidants"!) But now that I've been taking LifePak for almost two months, I get through the day without fatigue and I've lost 8 pounds. So, along with the long-term benefits I'll get, they're definitely providing short-term benefits for me also!

Can't wait until the entire blog is dedicated to selling things.

The photo thing is useful. But pushing unproven supplements is another.

Nice way to drive away your readers.

Funny, but I recall Pharmanex having its share of legal troubles.

They also seem to have a tendency to finance research studies which SURPRISE! show how beneficial their products are.

Dear anonymous,

I've blogged for the last three years because I've enjoyed it, not out of a duty to any reader base. Please don't dismiss the hundreds of hours I've spent providing information that has been beneficial to the China adoption community.

I don't intend this to become a forum to discuss supplements. But you are absolutely incorrect when you state that Pharmanex supplements are unproven. Just the opposite, they are the only ones that ARE proven to work, and they are money-back guaranteed to work for anyone that tries them.

If you're going to drop a note like that on my weblog, please educate yourself first.

Proven by who? Biased studies funded by the manufacturer don't count. What legitimate, independent lab proved this?

Honestly, it sounds like you fell for a motivational sales pitch and are now so far invested that it would be embarrassing to educate YOURSELF and admit that Pharmanex is no different than the hundreds of other similar products on the market (i.e. Advocare, etc, etc, etc) that are also "guaranteed to work".

By the way, I do love the blog, and am grateful for the information you provide. And I do realize that it takes time to do this, and that you get little, if any, reward for your trouble. Thank you for your efforts.

I hope that your blog won't become a forum for selling this stuff, as you say. Yeah, I know it's your blog and you can do what you want. But it sure would be a disappointment, not to mention damage your credibility (as I said, the Photomax service, by contrast, is actually useful).

If you have verifiable, independent research to prove your claims for Pharmanex, bring it on. I'll gladly admit my error. Until then, I remain skeptical of the whole industry, as should everyone else.

Anonymous,

Thanks for the nice comments about the weblog. I don't expect that I'll be mentioning Pharmanex very often. I may post entries about Photomax now and then, since they have products that are of general interest to the China-adoptive community.

Pharmanex *does* stand out with respect to "prove-ability" of their products. In 2002, they acquired commercial rights to use a scanning technology developed at the University of Utah Center for Biomedical Optics. The scanner non-invasively measures the level of carotenoid antioxidants in your body. That is how Pharmanex can demonstrate their supplements are working in your body. The scanner is the real deal, and is used at a number of universities for research. (The scanner is covered by 8 patents.) I've personally done a significant amount of due diligence. I have a Ph.D. in chemical engineering and understand spectroscopy. I've read the peer reviewed journal articles on the scanner. I've also reviewed them with a patent agent (a friend, who is also a Ph.D. chemical engineer but with no interest in direct selling). He is very impressed with the scanner, with Pharmanex, and is now a customer. I assure you, that while the business presentation about Pharmanex IS very exciting, I would not be spending my precious time on this if it were not a good thing.

You can learn more about the scanner at:

www.pharmanexscanner.com

Even if you have no interest in taking Pharmanex supplements, it would be worth your time to find a distributor and get scanned. The level of anti-oxidants you have in your body is directly proportional to how long you will live and how healthy you will be. If you are not familiar with carotenoid antioxidants and the health benefit they provide, this is a recent article that references one of many studies linking carotenoid antioxidants to improved health:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12302075/

There are literally thousands of studies that demonstrate the health benefits of antioxidants. And Pharmanex provides the only supplements that have a performance guarantee to work in *your* body, and they can demonstrate your personal results with science. In fact, Pharmanex won the 2005 American Business Award for the most Innovative Company in America because of the scanner. (Oracle was a finalist.) They are the only Multi-Level company to do so. UPS was the 2004 winner in the same category.

Finally, I don't mind you questioning the validity of Pharmanex as a supplement company. You are asking the right questions.
